New Month, New Me!
Hi, !
New month, new me!
You'll notice my mailer has a new look this week. In trying to give you more value-added content, I have split it into three broad sections:
1. NEWS: this is for updates about my life and my writing. I'll keep you posted about works in progress, my reading challenges. There will probably be cat pictures.
2. FOR READERS: book recommendations, book reviews, free books, author news, anticipated releases... this section is all about books and authors that are NOT me. I'm a reader first and foremost, so I love to talk about books! I hope you're here for it.
3. FOR WRITERS: tips for authors, in a nutshell. If you've ever dreamed of writing a book but don't know where to start, I'll be sharing articles and writing tips that I've learned along the way. And it's not just about writing. I'll also post publishing, marketing, and freelancing advice :)
So... without further ado, let's get on with it!
NEWS
2024 HEIGHT IN BOOKS CHALLENGE UPDATE!
I am on track! If I keep up this pace, I'll make it this year (finally!), but I am also entering my busiest time of year with kids' stuff, so feel free to send encouragement! I'm busy with book 36 - Marina Auer's latest medical thriller, Single Minded.
WHY YOU SHOULD READ EVERY DAY...
You should read every day. Fact. Reading every day not only benefits your brain, but it also has incredible social advantages for adults and students alike. It’s no secret that we are addicted to our screens. I recently realized that I log almost eight hours of screen time daily on my phone. Granted, a large chunk of that is for work, but still... EIGHT HOURS?!
The good news is that reading is the perfect distraction from the mindless scroll. And it has benefits way beyond the page. Visit the blog to discover why you (and your children!) should read every day...
FOR WRITERS
The Importance of a Great Opening Line
The importance of a great opening line cannot be overlooked, and writing one is a challenge every writer will encounter. As an author, I know how challenging it is to sit down and start writing a book – it’s why I created my step-by-step writing guide. But the opening line is a challenge all on its own. This introductory sentence will be your first impression on readers and should inspire them to keep reading.
That's all for this week, I hope you have a fabulous weekend <3
